Stress is an natural response in highly competitive environments. Before a race, before an exam, before an important meeting, your heart rate and blood pressure rise, your focus tightens, you become more alert and more efficient.
Beyond a certain level, stress overloads your system, compromising your performance and, eventually, your health.
More people feel burned out from work than ever. And job stress is responsible for more health complaints than money or family problems. If left unchecked, this stress won’t simply fade away. It can lead to severe anxiety, panic. It can lead to situations that affect your personal life and your career prospects.
So the question is, what can you do to keep stress under control?
Stress Solutions is a tailored programme for companies and employees to reduce harmful stress in the workplace and in life. A happier employee is more productive, innovative and motivated which leads to a more profitable business.
An employee with strategies in reducing stress also takes less sick leave.
It's a win win situation for everyone.
Nearly a third of fit notes (formerly sick notes) issued by GPs are for psychiatric problems, says an NHS report. The new data analysed more than 12 million of them. This makes stress related illness the most common reason for people to take time off work.
There was a 14% rise in notes relating to anxiety and stress between 2015-16 and 2016-17. The Royal College of Psychiatrists said the findings were "alarming" and pointed to a need for more to be done to help get people back to work.
